FAQs

What are some benefits for the internship host?

  • An opportunity to add a position without impacting your budget.
  • Have an extra worker to help complete projects, filing, reorganizing, office efficiency, etc.
  • Add to your future job vacancy candidate pool, with on-site supervision & evaluation.

If we decide to serve as an internship host, how long is the internship period?

Each internship is tailored to the needs of the internship host and the intern. Internships can vary in length however most internships are approximately three months, allowing the intern sufficient time to add meaningful work experience to his/her resume and to give the host enough time to complete major projects and/or assignments. Extensions can always be arranged.

How many hours per day or per week can we ask a CWEE intern to work?

Hours can also vary. Some interns work four hours a week; others three days per week. The hours are based on a combination of: the intern’s needs to complete her/his class work at CWEE and the needs of the internship host. The hours can be “split” during the week or during the days (i.e. 3 days a week but only works a ½ day either in the morning or afternoon). We will work with you to meet your needs, including assigning two to three interns if necessary.

What paperwork is involved to establish an internship through CWEE?

A CWEE team member from Employment Services will assist you in completing the necessary paperwork. Typically, it includes a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a bi-weekly time sheet and evaluation form.

What are my responsibilities when we have a CWEE intern working for us?

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily supervision
  • Mentoring and on-the-job training
  • E-mailing of weekly attendance and faxing bi-weekly evaluation forms
  • Provide challenging assignments for intern growth and development
  • Final intern evaluation

What assistance/support will we receive from CWEE during the internship?
