CWEE serves low income residents of the Denver metropolitan area (Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson counties). If you are interested in our programs, you must be ready to find a job and change your life for the better. CWEE PrimeTime classes begin every three weeks throughout the year. The first week of class is our Career Exploration Assessment week, where participants participate in several pencil and paper and self-assessments to determine career goals. At the end of Career Exploration, participants will develop an individualized training plan with staff. Each plan includes a mix of options that can include:
- GED preparation
- Basic Skills refresher
- Job Readiness classes [including communication skills, time management, self-esteem] Skill Development [computer applications, customer service workshop, business writing]
- Job Search preparation [resume development, cover letters, interviewing skills, mock interviewing]
- Job Club [job fairs on site, referrals to employers, support for job search activities, appropriate clothing from our Boutique]
- Retention Services [follow-up services and training to help move to the next position/promotion
CWEE AfterHours features self-paced computer-based instruction in Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and the Internet. In addition, a self-paced typing tutor program is available. This training happens every Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 - 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost for this training is $20 per six months. (Scholarships are available.)
